Sheffield wedding venues for all kinds of celebrations – whether you’re looking for historical gems, industrial chic, warehouses, or more.

You’d be forgiven for thinking that all the Steel City does is bang out world-class athletes and musicians. Whilst it does do that – and does it very well, too – it also has so much more to offer, including some incredible spaces and places to get married. As a Sheffield wedding celebrant, I adore this city and celebrating everything it has to offer is extremely my jam – so it’s only right that I compiled all of the best places to get married here.

To help you navigate the list as easily as possible, I’ve grouped the venues by vibe below. I’ve also not included any standard hotel-type spots, because I’m guessing you might have already heard of them.

So, without further ado: here’s 16 of my favourite places to get married in Sheffield, according to a Sheffield wedding celebrant.

(Need more convincing that you should get married in Sheffield? Here’s why I think you should.)

What do the asterisks mean? They mean you get extra good guy points if you book here, because they’re run by a charity, not-for-profit or community interest company. Smugness abounds!

Sheffield wedding venues that are historical gems

A gothic beauty in the General Cemetery might sound a little spooky, but it is in fact incredibly romantic. A grand exterior, an elegant interior, and the wooded hillside as the backdrop make it a gorgeous place to say I do – plus, you can have non-religious ceremonies there.

It’s lovely in all seasons, but it would be extra perfect for an October wedding and a couple who like the idea of roaming amongst the headstones for their pictures.

Factually, the Lantern is Sheffield’s oldest surviving theatre and is a Grade II listed building. Emotionally, it’s a gorgeously intimate and atmospheric space, with a proper aisle for a grand entrance.

It’s also where Mr Senior and I had our Humanist wedding ceremony, so I can recommend it with both my Sheffield wedding celebrant hat on and my bride hat on (I didn’t wear a hat, but you get the gist).

If you’ve ever been to Meersbrook Park, have you noticed Bishops’ House? Though Meersbrook as an area is known for being our city’s hippie haven, the venue has its own distinct (and not-very-hippie) personality given its Tudor style architecture. It also has a lawn – basically the whole park – which makes the perfect space for post-ceremony drinks!

Industrial chic Sheffield wedding venues

There’s a reason this Sheffield wedding venue has won awards – well, actually, there’s loads of reasons.

Of course, the space itself is stunning (and requires little to no decorating for your event, because it’s perfect as is). There’s also the history of the venue, speaking to the industrial nature of our city. For instance, The Chimney House once housed a literal elephant during World War One. As you do.

And then there’s the customer service – The Chimney House team will look after you so well, and they really know their stuff.

In any one year, I’ll usually conduct at least one wedding at the Museum. It’s pretty popular, and I personally love it. A blend of old and modern, of history and the future, it’s so iconically Sheffield. Plus, imagine having your wedding pics under the enormous Bessemer (I mean, can you get any more Sheffield?), or in front of the River Don Engine – ICONIC.

It’s also worth mentioning that Sheffield Museums have some other gorge venues, too – you can get wed at Weston Park Museum where lots of Sheffielders have fond childhood memories, and the more modern, bright and spacious Millennium Gallery too.

Yellow Arch is a one-of-a-kind venue with a rich music history (and present), having played host to Jarvis Cocker, Richard Hawley, Kylie Minogue and more, as well as being the birth place of the Arctic Monkeys.

With a bright airy ceremony space and a cute cobbled courtyard, it’s just a really cool space, and the perfect setting for the party of a lifetime. (The Guardian even listed the Studios as one of their top five places for a night out!)

The Hideaway is one of the only Sheffield wedding venues in the city centre that isn’t a generic hotel chain. It’s an old cutlery works building which has been lovingly transformed into a quirky events, café and bar space. It’s a very versatile spot, they've actually even been known to host the odd hen do too.

Warehouse wedding venues in Sheffield

Bang in the city centre, near Pounds Park and a stone’s throw from the redevelopment around Leah’s Yard and the Heart of the City project. If you fell in love on the sticky floors at Corporation night club, you might be delighted to know you can get wed right around the corner!

This 1920s warehouse in Shalesmoor has been lovingly restored to make it a fab wedding venue. There’s loads of space to do whatever you want with, and a more intimate room with lots of light which is great for ceremonies.

The Hide offer in-house catering, drink, all furniture and staff, making it easy-peasy for you to rock up and party.

Peddler Warehouse has a lot to answer for (in a good way): it’s arguably the origin of Kelham Island’s transformation into a hipster hangout, and the home of Peddler night market at 92 Burton Road.

As such, it’s one of the city’s best loved events spaces. There are tonnes of blogs out there showing you how to use this space because it’s been a pretty prolific Sheffield wedding venue for the past decade.

Sheffield wedding venues surrounded by nature

Up in Stannington, this Sheffield wedding venue is a base for nature conservation. The Georgian grain barn, originally built in 1802, is a whimsical, magical space for ceremonies; or, if you’d prefer to marry outside, there’s the Bandstand and the lawns.

It’s a great spot for DIY weddings because you have free reign over the buildings and lots of different options for space to hang out. Plus, another fun fact; the first humanist wedding ceremony I was ever a guest at took place here!

Ecclesall Woods is Sheffield’s largest ancient woodland, and the discovery centre sits right at the heart of it. I recently conducted a wedding there for the most epic couple, who involved their kids in the ceremony – the kids gave their parents “well done” stickers for being brave and doing the important job of getting married! Plus, we ended with a surprise oompah band playing for guests. Truly joyous.

With exclusive use of the accommodation and grounds for the weekend, Smallshaw Farm is a brilliant option for a wedding weekend or getaway. It feels secluded and special, and has a very laid-back vibe, with only a small number of weddings each year. Also, there’s an onsite tennis court with stunning views, so it’s the perfect balance of chill but bougie!

Grand buildings in Sheffield for weddings

This Sheffield wedding venue dates back to the medieval era! It was originally a 12th century hunting lodge in the midst of a deer park, and is now known for its gorgeous wild flower meadow in the summer months. Want turrets? You want Sheffield Manor Lodge.

Previously a Yorkshire farmhouse, Spicer Manor is now a luxury retreat. If you’re after a wedding weekend with space for guests to stay, this could be the spot.

It’s technically in Sheffield – hence its inclusion on my list of Sheffield wedding venues – but it’s up in the wild North past Penistone, which feels like Wuthering Heights/Brontë country with its misty atmosphere. Heathcliff, it’s me, it’s Meg Se(nior)...

This building is owned by the University of Sheffield, and was previously The University Hall for Women in the 1930s (although it was originally built way before that in 1840 as a private home).

It's perhaps more formal in vibe than the other venues on this list, which makes it a lush option if you're after somewhere more traditional. It's beautifully bright inside and has cute gardens, and accommodation onsite too.

Get married anywhere you want with a Sheffield wedding celebrant

Have any of these Sheffield wedding venues piqued your interest? If so, I'm extremely happy to have been of assistance.

With a celebrant wedding, you can get married wherever you like – and that’s only the beginning of all the choice you have. Get in touch to book a chat about your wedding ceremony. I’d absolutely love to marry you – and talk all things Sheffield with you too, obvs.
